Uncovering Dr. Yunus's Alleged Propaganda in Concealing Communal Violence

Uncovering Dr. Yunus’s Alleged Propaganda in Concealing Communal Violence

The horrific experiences faced by minority communities, particularly Hindus, under the leadership associated with Dr. Yunus include numerous instances of extrajudicial killings, targeted looting, arson, false lawsuits, arbitrary arrests, unlawful detention, and police-perpetrated torture. The report further highlights threats and attacks against Hindu lawyers, often carried out with complete impunity.

Key Allegations of Oppression Against Hindus:

  • False Charges and Legal Harassment: Thousands of minority individuals, including Hindu lawyers, have been falsely implicated in legal cases.
  • Unlawful Detention: Members of the Hindu community were detained while peacefully advocating for protection against communal violence.
  • Suppression of Freedom of Assembly: Peaceful protests calling out the regime for its failure to protect minorities have been violently suppressed.
  • Attacks on Lawyers: Hindu lawyers have faced violence, including vandalism of their chambers and life-threatening assaults, while defending illegally detained individuals.
  • Gender-Based Violence: Hindu women have suffered egregious violations, with justice systemically denied.
  • Extrajudicial Killings: Hindu youth have been murdered by law enforcement, reportedly for personal relationships crossing religious boundaries.

Targeted Attacks on Hindu Community, activists, temples

The disinformation campaign denying communal violence lost credibility following a series of attacks on Hindu temples on December 6, including the Sree Sree Radha Krishna Mandir and the Laxmi Narayan Temple. These sacred sites were set on fire, instilling fear among devotees and deterring them from openly practicing their faith.

In another incident, on September 5, Utsav Mondol, a Bangladeshi Hindu youth, was lynched by an Islamist mob amid allegations of police and military inaction following an unproven accusation of blasphemy. Additionally, on November 16, Hridoy Rabi Das, a Hindu boy, was reportedly killed by the Bangladesh Army for having a love affair with an orphaned Muslim girl. The girl herself has called for justice in the case.

On December 25, Basana Mallik, a 46-year-old Hindu woman and an elected Union Parishad member, was brutally gang-raped by a group identified as Islamists.

Chinmay Krishna Das, a prominent Hindu leader and saint of the ISKCON community in Bangladesh, is an outspoken advocate for the rights of Hindu minorities. However, the Bangladesh government has filed a fabricated treason case against him. Chinmay Das was arrested on November 25, 2024.

On November 26, a Muslim lawyer was killed in a clash, and Muslim lawyers subsequently demanded that Chinmay Krishna Das be made a defendant in the murder case. A case was filed accusing him, and these lawyers also called for the death sentence for Chinmay Krishna Das. They even obstructed any lawyer from representing him.

On December 3, a mob attacked the Hindu community in Sunamganj’s Dowarabazar and nearby villages following an unproven accusation of blasphemy against a Hindu boy. The violence resulted in:

  • The destruction and looting of at least 105 houses,
  • The robbery and vandalization of at least 70 businesses,
  • The damage, looting, and desecration of at least 4 temples.

On January 1, 2025, Pranto Talukdar, a Hindu online activist, was abducted by Islamic extremists for sharing comments on Hindu rights and calling for the release of Chinmay Krishna Das. He was found brutally injured.

Communal Violence Denied

Despite mounting evidence, the regime’s narrative dismisses these atrocities as political violence, masking the communal intent behind the attacks. The widespread campaign of hate against Hindus by Islamist groups on the streets has amplified the plight of minorities and contradicted claims of communal harmony under the current leadership.

This report underscores the urgent need for accountability and protection for minorities facing systematic violence and discrimination.
